Independent Softball Association

The Independent Softball Association was founded in 1982 in Shelbyville, Tennessee, by Larry Nash. ISA is one of four major governing bodies of amateur softball in America. We organize, sanction and govern competitive participation in various formats and classifications through league and tournament play.  New to the Northeast, and in it's second year in New Jersey, ISA's popularity has grown steadily throughout its 20 year history, with current registrations in excess of 23,000 teams, 2500 umpires and a network in excess of 400 directors covering 42 states, Canada and Mexico.

ISA was the originator of the rule that permits stealing in slow-pitch, once the ball hits the ground or crosses home plate base runners may attempt to advance. This rule adds defense as an important factor and creates some balance to a predominately offensive game. Various home-run rules, including an inning ending out in men's Class "B" and below, governs competition levels and adds balance throughout the various classifications. Our new "Pitcher's Box" affords pitchers an option, allowing them to pitch with safety in mind. In our Youth Fast Pitch program, special rules are used for our new 8U and 10 U divisions. In all divisions, we have the best of both worlds with DH,BB (Base Bandit) and DEFO as part of our line-up.

Our program incorporates participation in girls youth fast-pitch, men's modified and slow-pitch in all age groups and competition levels, including Co-Ed, Armed Forces, Women's and Seniors divisions. All classifications offer, state, regional and World tournament play.

The ISA umpire program is second to none. Our stringent training and selection process adds up to a quality staff of umpires on the field of play.

Insurance is no problem with ISA. K&K Insurance Group, the largest underwriter of sports, leisure and entertainment insurance in the United States, provides our coverage with an insurance value that is second to none.

As you see we have covered all of the bases. But, we are not finished yet, We're just getting started.

Don't miss the golden opportunity to align your team with the most progressive association in softball today. While others are content to rest on their laurels we readily admit that our best days are still ahead.  Softball for the 21st Century? You bet. The United States, Canada and Mexico have already experienced ISA play and we are growing daily.

Your team will have an opportunity to win a national tournament berth by playing in this
tournament. We thank you for considering ISA tournament play and for participating in
this charity tournament.
